The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is the first country to follow in the Middle East and Arab world. Like any other developed nations, the specialty of Emergency Medicine started as a strategy by major healthcare providers in the Kingdom. It was implemented initially by providing scholarships for post graduate specialty training in the US and Canada. Upon the return of the first graduated batches, the need to further augment the specialty with a local board certification and residency training program was evident. Today, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has one of the leading training programs in the specialty of Emergency Medicine in the GCC, Arab world, and the Middle East.
